Grade or approved writing sample
Factory buyer guide
Specify HB, 2B, eraser, shape, and packing before quoting graphite pencils.
Build a comparable graphite pencil RFQ covering HB or 2B grade, body dimensions, shape, sharpening, eraser, finish, logo, packaging, sample approval, and inspection.

Who this is for
Stationery importers, office and school distributors, private-label brands, wholesalers, and graphite pencil program managers
Use this page to prepare one measurable specification and commercial basis before comparing suppliers.
01
Define grade by an approved writing reference
State the intended HB, 2B, or other confirmed grade together with the writing, darkness, smoothness, erasability, sharpening, and breakage checks that matter to the buyer. A grade label alone does not replace an approved performance reference.
Darkness and writing feel
Erasability and smudge expectations
Sharpening and breakage check
02
Fix the body construction
Record finished length, diameter, shape, wood route, core diameter, centering expectation, and sharpened state. These variables affect material use, handling, printing, packaging, and compatibility with the buyer's channel.
Length and diameter
Round, hexagonal, triangular, or confirmed shape
Wood and core construction
Sharpened or unsharpened delivery
03
Separate eraser and non-eraser routes
If an eraser is required, specify ferrule construction, eraser dimensions, colors, attachment, and functional acceptance. If no eraser is required, define the dip end, painted end, or plain-end treatment instead of leaving the end construction open.
Eraser and ferrule dimensions
Component colors and finish
Attachment and functional check
Dip end, painted end, or plain end
04
Control barrel finish and branding
Define natural, coated, or painted barrel treatment, color references, logo file, placement, decoration method, and approval route. Match the artwork to the confirmed body shape and usable print area.
Barrel surface and color
Logo file and revision
Print or foil-stamp position
Proof and physical sample approval
05
Build packaging from exact counts
State pieces per sales unit, sales units per inner pack, inner packs per master carton, protective materials, labels, barcodes, carton marks, and pallet or container requirements. Use one count basis when comparing supplier quotations.
Pieces per pack or loose-bulk route
Inner and master-carton counts
Retail artwork, barcode, and labels
Carton protection and shipping marks
06
Approve the sample and inspection plan
Record which dimensional, functional, visual, count, packing, and document checks are required before production and shipment. Tie subjective appearance to an approved sample and confirm destination-specific testing or documents for the exact order.
Controlled sample and specification
Dimensional and functional checks
Visual and count acceptance
Order-specific testing and documents
Grade decision
HB vs 2B graphite pencils for wholesale programs.
HB and 2B labels identify different writing routes, but the final choice must follow the buyer's channel, approved writing reference, sharpening result, eraser expectation, packaging, and order-specific acceptance criteria.
HB route
Often evaluated for general school, office, writing, or retail programs, subject to the buyer's approved darkness, smoothness, erasability, and sharpening reference.
2B route
Often evaluated when a darker or softer writing result is requested, subject to the buyer's approved sample and functional checks.
Mixed-grade program
Keep grade identity, barrel marking, pack count, carton count, and inspection records separated when more than one grade is ordered.
Comparable quotation
Ask every supplier to quote the same grade reference, construction, finish, components, quantity, packaging, inspection, destination, and delivery term.

FAQ
Questions buyers should settle before production.
Is HB always the standard grade for school pencils?
HB is a common request, but the buyer should confirm the required grade and approve the writing, erasability, sharpening, and breakage reference for the intended market or tender.
What should be included in a 2B pencil quotation?
Include the approved writing reference, body dimensions and shape, wood and core route, finish, logo, eraser or end treatment, sharpening, quantity, packaging, inspection, destination, and delivery term.
Can graphite pencils be supplied unsharpened?
Sharpened and unsharpened routes can be discussed. The selected state should be recorded with the body dimensions, tip protection, packaging, and acceptance checks.
Should eraser performance be approved separately?
Yes when an eraser is part of the product. Confirm the eraser and ferrule construction, color, attachment, dimensions, appearance, and functional acceptance on the approved sample.
Are testing documents automatically included?
No. Testing, certificates, declarations, labeling, and destination documents must be confirmed for the exact product, intended user, market, buyer requirement, and order before production.
