Cartons in the production run
Factory buyer guide
Convert a 100-carton pencil MOQ into pieces, sets, SKUs, and shipping units.
Plan a 100-carton pencil MOQ by carton contents, inner packs, retail sets, SKU allocation, samples, overage, and destination before comparing quotations.

Who this is for
Importers, distributors, school-supply buyers, private-label brands, promotional-product buyers, and procurement teams converting carton MOQ into saleable units
Use this page to prepare one measurable specification and commercial basis before comparing suppliers.
01
Start with the production carton, not an assumed piece count
A 100-carton MOQ does not equal one fixed number of pencils. The total depends on retail units per inner pack, inner packs per master carton, loose-piece or set packing, SKU allocation, and whether the quotation counts finished retail packs or bulk bodies.

02
Calculate total units with a traceable formula
For loose pencils, multiply cartons by inners per carton and pieces per inner. For colored-pencil sets, multiply cartons by sets per carton and pencils per set. Keep both saleable units and physical pencil pieces visible so packaging, freight, and unit-price comparisons use the same basis.

03
Allocate cartons before creating multiple SKUs
Colors, grades, barrel finishes, artwork versions, erasers, pack counts, and destinations can create separate SKUs and setups. Record the carton allocation for every variant and confirm whether the mix is practical before treating 100 cartons as freely divisible.

04
Separate production quantity from samples and overage
Pre-production samples, retained control samples, inspection samples, replacements, and an agreed production tolerance should not be hidden inside an unexplained total. Record which quantities are chargeable, which are shipped, and which remain with the factory or inspection party.

05
Compare quotations on one carton and delivery basis
Normalize the quoted price by carton, retail unit, set, and pencil piece where relevant. Then compare packing materials, gross weight, dimensions, freight basis, Incoterm, named place, lead-time trigger, inspection, documents, and exclusions before selecting the lowest number.

Quantity release gate
Approve the carton program only when every unit conversion balances.
A usable MOQ plan reconciles production cartons, SKU allocation, retail units, physical pencils, samples, tolerance, shipping marks, and commercial price basis without relying on an assumed carton count.
Carton definition
Record the exact inner and master-carton configuration used in the quotation.
SKU allocation
Assign whole-carton quantities to each grade, color, artwork, pack, and destination variant.
Quantity reconciliation
Make saleable units, physical pencils, samples, overage, and shipped quantity mathematically traceable.
Commercial comparison
Compare suppliers on the same unit, pack, carton, Incoterm, inspection, document, and delivery basis.
Factory quotation route
Approve the carton program only when every unit conversion balances.
Send the measurable product, pack, quantity, destination, sample, inspection, document, and commercial inputs identified on this page. Shanhai's standard production MOQ is 100 cartons; carton contents and every order-specific term are confirmed in the formal quotation.
FAQ
Questions buyers should settle before production.
How many pencils are in 100 cartons?
There is no universal number. Multiply the confirmed cartons, inners per carton, pieces or sets per inner, and pencils per set. The formal quotation must state the exact pack and carton contents.
Can the 100 cartons be split across several colors or designs?
A mix can be discussed, but each variant may create a separate material, artwork, setup, sample, packing, and inspection route. Send the proposed carton allocation for confirmation before pricing.
Are samples included in the 100-carton production MOQ?
Samples are handled separately from the standard production MOQ. Sample type, quantity, charge, freight, approval purpose, and retained references are confirmed for the request.
Should buyers compare price per piece or per carton?
Use both when relevant. The supplier comparison should reconcile price per pencil, set, inner, and carton and also use the same Incoterm, named place, packing, quantity, inspection, documents, and exclusions.
